Surrounded by county forest preserves on nearly all sides, the village of Addison is part of DuPage County. Southeast of O’Hare airport on the western edge of the Chicago metro area, Addison retains a rural feel on the banks of the Salt Creek.
However, this does not insulate them from the growing health problem of rising STD rates. In fact, from 2014 to 2018, the prevalence rate for STDs in Addison and DuPage County rose by 47.4%. Chlamydia and Syphilis saw the largest growth during that period.
Conversely, during that five-year period, Addison’s HIV prevalence rate fell by 2.5%. This is in direct opposition to Illinois’ rate which rose by 10%.
