The rate of STD infection has been increasing over the years in Bernardino County. According to a 2016 research, there are more than 15, 000 new infections each year in the county. The Hispanic community was largely hit by Chlamydia infections with a staggering 31% of the total infections. In 2016 the county recorded 20 cases of congenital syphilis. This rate of increase in congenital syphilis has been daunting considering the type of damage it causes.
