STD statistics for Clay, NY are wrapped up in the 2017 New York State report and disaggregated figures for Onondaga County. The report showed that in 2017 there were 40 cases of early syphilis, 2,684 cases of chlamydia and 773 cases of gonorrhea. It also found that a diagnosis of primary and secondary syphilis was received almost exclusively of men, although the overall rate has remained relatively consistent over three consecutive years – 2015 to 2017. Around twice as many women as men, however, received a diagnosis of chlamydia and this was highest among 15 to 24 year-olds.
The gender divide, however, is less stark in cases of gonorrhea and within the same three-year period, cases peaked in 2016 at 1,006 before coming down to 773 in 2017. The county governing Clay, NY had the highest gonorrhea rates of any other county in New York State in 2014.
