Bexar County Department of Health reported an increase in HIV cases in Bexar County, home to Converse city. The infections multiplied to 5,710 at a rate of 372 in 2018 from the previous figure of 4,319 at a rate of 312 reported in 2014.
An upsurge of Chlamydia cases was noted in the county with the infections escalating from 10,383 at a rate of 616.0 in 2009 to 13,318 at a rate of 690.5 by 2016. There was also an upward trend of Gonorrhea cases with the infections gaining from 3,398 at 201.6 in 2009 to 4,357 at a rate of 225.9 in 2016.
Syphilis infections had lower rates compared to the other STIs, but they still rose from 709 at a rate of 42.1 in 2009 to 975 at a rate of 50.6 by 2016.
