Located in Houston County, Perry, GA, has seen a rise in STD/HIV cases over the past few years. According to the Houston County Department, HIV incidents increased from 171 in 2014 to 327 cases in 2020.

The health department report indicated a surge in Chlamydia cases from 899 in 2014 to 1,055 incidents in 2019. The infections were mostly identified among teenagers and young adults aged 15 to 25 years.

Gonorrhea cases in the county were moderate compared to Chlamydia infections. There was a gradual increase of the infections from 236 in 2014 to 364 cases in 2019.

Additionally, the data from the health reports noted an increase in new syphilis infections. There were 13 cases in 2014, which rose to 41 cases in 2019. The infections were prevalent among the male population, especially men who have sex with men.
