According to the Annual STD Surveillance Report of 2017, 1,669 new incidences of chlamydia, 525 cases of gonorrhea, 123 cases of syphilis and 17 cases of HIV. Syphilis has increased 6 times in Marion county since 2012 and the same case as gonorrhea with 600% rise, chlamydia has more than doubled.
Wasco County Public Health has established that about 42% of males infected with STDS are men having sex with other men, while 21% are injected drug users while about 10% are men in heterosexual/gay relationship and injecting drugs, which form high risk population.
