The number of new HIV infections recorded by the York County Department of Health has been decreasing over the years. In 2014, the department recorded 6 cases at a rate of 10 percent. A slight change was observed in 2015 when 5 cases were reported at a rate of 10 percent.
Chlamydia cases increased tremendously in the year 2015 in comparison to the previous years. 492 cases at a rate of 12 percent were recorded in 2015, and this was a significant hike from the 399 cases at a rate of 11 percent that was reported in 2014. The number of Chlamydia infections in 2015 recorded the highest infections in comparison to that of other STDs in the region.
The health department of York county reported 35 cases of Gonorrhea infections at a rate of 15 percent in 2014. The number of new gonorrhea cases reported in 2015 was slightly higher as 46 cases at a rate of 11 were recorded.
The department members recorded 2 cases of new syphilis infections that stood at 10 percent in 2014 and 5 cases at 10 percent in 2015. This was attributed to the high number of heterosexual relationships, and the black female community was leading in infection rate.
