Health officials in southwest Georgia are worried about rising STD rates. In 2016, the HIV prevalence rate in Dougherty County was 939.9 per 100K people, well above Georgia’s rate of 602.4. That’s an astronomical rate for a fairly rural region, and no one seems to know why the rates are so high.
