Santa Rosa County communities, including Navarra, OH, are seeing a rise in STD rates, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
County health records show that chlamydia rates in the county rose by 8 percent, as the number of reported chlamydia cases increased from 492 cases in 2015 to 532 cases in 2016. Gonorrhea rates jumped by more than 63 percent, as the number of reported gonorrhea cases climbed from 59 cases in 2015 to 96 cases in 2016.
Syphilis rates also slightly increased, as the number of newly reported cases went from 18 cases in 2015 to 20 cases in 2016.
After seeing an increase of over 200 percent in the number of HIV cases reported in Santa Rosa County from 2015 to 2016, records show that these numbers declined by 25 percent in 2017, with 12 reported cases of HIV.
