The number of HIV infections reported in the Jackson County Health Department has been consistent over the years. 14 new cases were reported in 2017 and 2018 at a rate of 9.8 per 100,000 population. This has been attributed to the HIV awareness campaign all over the city.

There was a tremendous increase in the number of Syphilis infections reported in 2018. New 8 Syphilis cases at a rate of 5.6 per 100,000 residents were reported in 2017, and 26 new cases at a rate of 18.1 in 2018.
