Alpena, MI, is the only city in Alpena County. It sits along the shores of Lake Michigan, and its residents are experiencing an STD outbreak.
The remote area has seen an increase in chlamydia infections from 32 in 2016 to 67 in 2019. The highest number of chlamydia infections in Alpena was among women ages 20 to 24.
