What are the STI test options in Littleton, CO?

STD morbidity rate has been disturbingly increasing in Colorado, especially in the Tri-Counties of Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties. The Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) issued a health statement which showed a rise in congenital syphilis (CS), besides the commonly reported chlamydia, gonorrhea and P&S syphilis cases.

Another report by Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) indicated that, between 2012 and 2016, 63% of all gonorrhea diagnoses occurred in the Tri-County area, including Denver and Jefferson counties.

According to the TCHD report, the high morbidity rate of syphilis increased in CS cases. From 2016-2017, there was a 30% increase in CS diagnoses.

The Tri-County HIV Prevention and Linkage to Program has an objective of providing sexual health education to the public to alleviate the spread of STIs. Besides, the program offers testing and referrals to STD care for HIV+ individuals, and those living with STDs and viral hepatitis.

The Tri-County Health Department clinic situated along Willow Drive may provide testing services to those at risk of contracting HIV/STDs, including the LGBTQ community, people who use intravenous drugs, and sexually active youths.

Alternatively, you can go to the Planned Parenthood clinic located on County Line Road. The clinic specializes in women’s health and STD testing, screening, treatment and prevention services. You may also receive abortion care, emergency contraception pregnancy tests, and HIV testing.

Other clinics within Littleton town may render free STD testing. The disadvantages with these services are that you may not get treatment drugs in case your test +ve. Also, you’ll have to wait in long queues.
