Wyoming Health Department has noted a consistent trend in the number of reported HIV infections in Sweetwater county over the years. In the year 2018, 10 cases at a rate of 6 percent were reported, and the same number of cases were recorded in 2017 at a rate of 7 percent. There was a slight increase in the number of Gonorrhea cases reported in 2018 in comparison to the previous year. In 2017, 5 new Gonorrhea cases at a rate of 11.2 per 100,000 population were reported. However, the number shot up to 9 cases at a rate of 20.2 in 2018.
The department officials recorded 126 cases at a rate of 283.0 per 100,000 population Chlamydia infections in the year 2018 and 100 cases at a rate of 223.2 in 2017. The young population aged between 20-24 was on the lead, and female infections were the highest.
The Wyoming Health Department has set up plans and strategies to minimize the spread of STDs in the area.
