Primary and secondary syphilis diagnoses are also of concern. In 2017, Baldwin County listed five cases. The next year, in 2018, it had nine. In 2016, the county had four early latent syphilis infections, and in 2018, the number of diagnoses doubled to four.

Late latent syphilis is another concern with four new cases in 2016 rising to ten in 2018.

Officials at the county health department are concerned about the area’s growing STD rate and are asking all persons that are sexually active to seek regular screenings.
