Natrona County, home to Casper city, was among the top 3 counties in Wyoming leading with high rates of HIV infections in 2017.  From 2013 to 2017, a total of 17 cases were reported. The highest rates of HIV infections were found in men who have sex with men.

Gonorrhea cases reported in 2018 indicated a 25 percent decrease from 2017. 97 cases were recorded in 2018 at a 31.6 percent rate per 100,000 persons. 83 percent of reported cases occurred among individuals under the age of 35 years.

Chlamydia cases remained stable from 2014 to 2018. There were 404 cases of Chlamydia in 2018, and 66 percent of all the new Chlamydia infections were reported among individuals aged 15 to 24 years.

Surprisingly, only 2 Syphilis cases at a rate of 6.8 percent were reported in 2018. The male population was the most affected with 79 percent of reported Syphilis cases in men who have sex with men.

To reduce the numbers of HIV/STD infections, the Natrona County Department of Health has developed a strategic working relationship with the community. This is done by providing the community with the following services; medical case management, medical transportation, mental health care, food banks, and health education.

Access of STD/HIV screening, treatment services is readily and easily available in some of the public clinics in the area.

Medical health care facilities like; Casper-Natrona County Health Department, Wyoming Medical Centre and Summit Medical Center are some of the hospitals where residents can get treatment.

Free STD/HIV screening, testing, and treatment are available in a few of the health care facilities. However, prescriptions for after test care might not be available if you’re tested positive.
