Introduction

What are the STI test options in South Burlington,VT?

There has been a worrying trend in the rising HIV incidences in South Burlington, VT, a Chittenden County city. The infections gained from 146 in 2014 to 214 in 2019. The increase in the cases can be attributed to the many people engaging in unprotected sex.

County health reports indicate that many residents were diagnosed with Chlamydia compared to other STIs. By the end of 2017, the infection had affected approximately 359.4 per 100,000 persons in the city.

Gonnorhea followed closely with a total rate of 34.1 in 2017.  The cases were noted to be significantly higher in minority populations, such as African Americans and Latinos.

Syphilis had the lowest incident rate in the city. Only 4.3 per 100,000 individuals were identified with this infection. The cases were noted to be higher in the male population compared to the female population.

Public health officials in Chittenden County are working to tackle the HIV/STD infections in the county by providing technical assistance and capacity building to local communities. They also connect local groups to national training opportunities to ensure they can address HIV/STD issues.

Although there has been an increase in the number of medical centers in South Burlington, VT, offering low-cost to free STD testing, residents may be required to be on income and welfare eligibility to access the free test. The facilities may also be limited in location.

Planned Parenthood - Williston Health Center and UVM Medical Center Urgent Care are some of the clinics within the city where you can access sexual health services. Other facilities near South Burlington include The University of Vermont Medical Center.
