In 2016, 180 Chlamydia cases were reported in Sumter County with a rate of 178.3 per 100,000 cases. The numbers increased drastically to 221 cases in 2017 with a rate of 150.7 per 100,000 cases. The Villages had a notable role to play and contributed significantly to these numbers.
9 years back, in 2008, 208 cases were recorded with a rate of 237.9 per 100,000 cases. A decrease in the rates from 2008 to 2017 can be noted.
96 cases of Gonorrhoea were recorded in 2017 at a rate of 77.5 per 100,000 cases, which is an increase from the 56 cases recorded in 2016.
