There are growing concerns about the rising numbers of HIV/STDS in Horizon city in El Paso County. The city diagnosed 137 HIV new cases at 616.3 in 2018, an increment from 110 cases at 132 in 2014.
The analysis also revealed an escalation in Chlamydia cases to 5,699 at 667.8 in 2018 from 4,955 cases at a rate of 593.4, diagnosed in 2014. The infections were higher in females.
Gonorrhea cases fluctuated all through that period. The cases slightly dropped from 2014 to 2016 from 675 at 80.0 in 2014 to 384 at 41.5 in 2016. They gradually rose from 2017 to 2018, with 726 cases at 86.4 to 1,137 cases at 135.2. respectively.
Syphilis cases also increased from 180 at 21.6 in 2014 to 335 at 39.8 in 2018.
