Founded in 1992, The Center welcomes all men and women that want to be screened for or learn more about HIV and AIDS. They do not have physicians, only volunteer patient advocates. They are trained and can answer most of your questions.

Testing doesn’t take long and you can expect to get results back within a few minutes.

Testing for HIV is always free, as long as you are a state resident. You will have to bring some form of i.d. to prove that you are a resident. Children under 14 years of age are not allowed to come in. The Center has a strict “no children” policy in place.

Are you HIV positive and learning that you need treatment? The Center has an advocacy program that helps connect their clients with specialists and other support programs. An advocate will work with you to make sure that you are placed with a facility that can help.

The Center has grown from its original small location to a large storefront property in the Commercial Center. There is a private entrance for clients on the east side of the building. There is also plenty of free parking in front of The Center.

Testing is always free and there is rarely a long wait. If you want to help them continue to make a difference, you can become part of their volunteer program.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) was started to provide testing and complete care for HIV and AIDS positive residents. Since they are a full service care facility, there are always medical personnel on staff.

When you come in for testing, a technician will be with you. They do have rapid testing, so you will know your status and if you need to start looking at treatment before you leave.

Call the clinic any day during the week. However, they only test on Mondays and Thursdays so you might not be able to make it in until the following week. It will depend on their patient roster when you are able to come in.

Payment is appreciated but no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay. If you can’t make it to the clinic, ask about their mobile unit.

AHF does have medical care for anyone living with HIV. If you cannot afford treatment, they will still provide you with all the services you need. No one will be turned away.

If you decide that you want to go elsewhere for medical care, they will forward your records to the specialist you select.

AHF has two locations in the area. One on the northside of town and the other closer to the bright lights of the Strip. They also have a mobile unit that periodically sets up in various locations around the city. Call the clinic if you want to know if it will be by you.

Along with rapid testing, they can also treat and help you manage the progression of the virus. Services are free to anyone that cannot afford the costs.

STD Testing and Sexual Health Education in North Las Vegas, NV

One of the most effective methods of slowing the spread of STDs is to educate students and residents about the dangers of engaging in unprotected sex, and to stress the importance of regular health checkups.

While the Las Vegas school system has always followed the federally sponsored abstinence only program, recent changes have been suggested. Even though the sexual education curriculum still only covers the basics of the reproductive system and stresses abstinence as the best method to preventing pregnancies and STDs, the simple fact that the district is discussing changes means that some of the warnings concerning the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases is being heard.

Some viral infections can be spread easily through casual contact, which is one of the reasons that Herpes is often prevalent in high schools.

Regular Herpes testing in Las Vegas can  prevent future embarrassing flare-ups from occurring. Sexual education classes can also ensure that students and parents know  some can only be detected during testing.

This is only one of the reasons why regular HIV testing in Las Vegas is important.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Demographics in North Las Vegas, NV

Not only do social and economic factors, but the high number of annual visitors is contributing to the problem.

Without proper education residents do not realize that they are potentially at risk for contracting a sexually transmitted disease, especially if they make a new friend at the casino.

Intravenous drug use is on the rise among certain demographical groups, and this is also thought to be responsible for the growing number of middle age men who are testing positive for primary and secondary Syphilis. Dating apps which make it easy to “hook up” for the night and the exciting Vegas nightlife are also contributing to the high rate of STDs.

There is also the shame and embarrassment that many residents often feel when they contract a STD, and this can make it difficult for them to discuss the problem with their partner. Even if the person initially infected has been treated, their partner is still potentially at risk.
