The Hennepin County Department of Health noted a rise in the number of HIV infections in Crystal City. The infections rose from 3,655 at a rate of 379 in 2013 to 4,082 at a rate of 400 in 2018.
Chlamydia infections were more prevalent in the county and rapidly multiplied over the years to reach 7,866 at a rate of 683 in 2018.
A sharp rise in the number of Gonorrhea infections was noted over the past few years among the Crystal residents. By the end of 2018, the infections had reached an all-time high of 3,308 at a rate of 287 per 100,000 people.
Syphilis infections were notably low compared to other STIs, but the infections still gained over the years. The rate of Syphilis infections in 2010 was 5 per 100,000 people, and in 2016, it had risen to 15 per 100,000 persons.
