An increase in the number of Gonorrhea diagnoses made between 2017 and 2019 was also observed. Health officials at the Ramsey County Health Department reported 1,184 new infections at a rate of 233 in 2017 and 1,388 new cases in 2019 at a rate of 273.
In the case of new Chlamydia infections, public health administrators recorded a steady rise from 3,356 cases in 2017, happening at an incidence rate of 660 to 3,396 infections in 2018 that prevailed at a rate of 668. In 2019, 3,493 cases were recorded at a rate of 687 in every population of 100,000.
To eradicate HIV/STDs in Ramsey County, public health stakeholders have been focused on increasing EPT use to improve access to partner prevention and treatment services. It promotes the availability of school-based clinics in school districts and colleges across the county to prevent more infections among the youth who are considered to be at a high risk of contracting HIV/STDs.
Free STD testing may be available in some clinics within the city, but their operational hours and availability may not be consistent, and the results might not be immediate.
