According to data received by the county’s infectious disease surveillance team, an undulating pattern was evident in the number of new HIV infections between 2017 and 2019 in Four Corners, OR.
Apparently, 13 HIV new infections were reported in 2017, and in 2018, the number had increased to 22 cases. However, in 2019, the number reduced to just three positive diagnoses.
In matters regarding new Chlamydia infections, a significant spike was observed, where healthcare providers in the county reported 1,662 cases in 2017 at a rate of 490.0 per 100,000 population and 1,887 newly diagnosed patients in 2018 at a prevalence rate of 548.5 in every cluster of 100,000 subjects.
The county’s public health officials had managed to reduce the number of new Gonorrhea infections between the same period. There were 525 new infections in 2017 recorded at a rate of 154.8 and 506 cases in 2018 occurring at a rate of 147.1.

Public health stakeholders in the county have collaborated with the statewide HIV/STD prevention program to guarantee relatively low rates of new infections. Through the program, they’ve gained support for extensive screening options of high-risk target groups, improved linkage to PrEP and PEP medications, coordinated syringe exchange initiatives, and implemented evidence-based behavioral interventions.
