Perrysburg has once again since 1990 found itself in a serious position that requires crafty Public Health intervention following sexually transmitted diseases resurgence. Form 2013 coming through to 2018, STD incidences have been alarmingly way up locally.
According to the Ohio CDC STD Surveillance report, Wood County where Perrysburg city seats, STD incidence rates jumped up high in 2008 compared to the previous year’s data. For chlamydia the numbers were 472 up from 304 while gonorrhea cases moved from 50 in 2007 to 79 in 2008.
Further analyzing the report, gonorrhea was found to have been the most prevalent in the region with over 58% increase between 2013 and 2017. Similarly, syphilis cases reported were 19 in 2013 which was also a case of rate going up.
Wood County Department of Health, Perrysburg has made STD testing and screening services more available by setting up various STD centers in the city. In addition, it has been creating awareness to the public on health impact of STD, prevention and the need for regular testing.

Moreover, a number of local clinics might offer free STD testing services, but these clinics might not offer comprehensive testing and walk-in option might not exist. In addition, the medical centers might experience long waiting times and some of them may have inconsistent opening hours.
