Easton is the county seat of Talbot County. Over the past few years, the county has experienced fluctuations in the rates of HIV prevalence. The rate increased from 53 per 100,000 individuals in 2015 to 75 per 100,000 in 2018 and 2019, followed by a slight decrease to 72 per 100,000 persons in 2020.

The rate of individuals diagnosed with Gonorrhea infections in the county fluctuated over the past few years. There was an increase from 45.2 per 100,000 persons in 2014 to 69.9 per 100,000 individuals in 2016, followed by a decrease to 43.1 per 100,000 persons in 2018.
Syphilis rates have also fluctuated over the past few years, with 2.7 per 100,000 individuals recorded in 2014, followed by nil in 2015 and 2016. However, in 2017 and 2018, the rate of infections increased to 2.7 per 100,000 persons.
Talbot County Health Department has successfully eradicated Syphilis infections, owing to increased advocacy for incorporating Syphilis testing among men who have sex with other men during HIV outreach screening. It also offers comprehensive sexual health training to members of the public.
Planned Parenthood – Easton (MD) Health Center, ChoiceOne Urgent Care – Easton, and University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton are some of the medical facilities that offer STD/HIV testing.
Also, you can access free STD testing at some hospitals in Easton town but doctor consultation might be an extra charge, and results might not be immediate.
