What are the STI test options in Annapolis,MD?
Annapolis, MD, the state’s capital that’s not far from the Nation’s Capitol, is in the midst of an STD outbreak.
Annapolis sits in Anne Arundel County. This area has 1,303 people living with HIV/AIDS, and in 2017, there were 42 new HIV cases. The most significant increase is among ages 15 – 24. Anne Arundel’s also seen a 16 % increase in chlamydia diagnoses between 2015 to 2016 with a record 63 % of those increases among those 15 – 24-years old.
The county hit its highest levels of gonorrhea in 10 years, and syphilis is also on the rise.
Anne Arundel County Officials hope that increasing education, testing, and treatment services among the area’s youth will stop the onslaught of STD cases overwhelmingly affecting young adults ages 15 – 24. The county is experiencing a high number of new gonorrhea and chlamydia diagnoses.
One location for STD testing is the Planned Parenthood at the Annapolis Health Center on West St just before the Annapolis National Cemetery. This location is easy to access by public transportation using the Green or Purple-N bus routes.
