Introduction

What are the STI test options in Douglas,GA?

Douglas is the county seat of Coffee County. The county’s public health officials noticed a minor increase in new HIV infection rates between 2020 and 2021.

The HIV prevalence rate was 90 per 100,000 population in 2020. In the following year, HIV diagnoses were recorded at 92 per 100,000 persons.

There was a significant drop in Chlamydia diagnoses reported between 2019 and 2020. In reference to 2019, 284 individuals received a positive Gonorrhea diagnosis. In 2020, there were 214 new cases recorded at a rate of 495.2.

New Gonorrhea infections in males reduced from 37 in 2019 to 32 in 2020. A similar trend was evident in the number of new Gonorrhea infections in females within the same period. There were 41 cases in 2019 and 30 in the following year.

There were no new Syphilis cases in the county between 2018 and 2020.

The Coffee County Health Department has an experienced infectious disease team that coordinates various prevention programs to keep the HIV/STD infection rates down.

One of the programs is the Wellness Program which offers comprehensive medical and support services such as transportation assistance and oral healthcare to PLWHA in the county.

You can visit the Coffee County Health Department, South Central Primary Care Center, and First Choice for STD screening services.

Although some providers may offer free STD testing, their opening hours may be inconvenient. Also, free services may not be available for some infections.
