From 2012 to 2016, a total number of 186 cases of HIV were reported in National City, California. This was about 3.0 percent of the National City population infected with HIV.

Chlamydia was the most commonly reported STD in the county.  There was an increase of Chlamydia cases from 1998 when 7,006 cases were recorded at a rate of 259.2 to a total number of 20,810 infections reported in 2017. The rate of chlamydia in women was found to be 1.6 times the rate in men.

The overall rate of Syphilis, however, infections have been fluctuating over the years.  In 1988, there were 424 Syphilis infections, and in 2017, the number had increased to 581.  The rates were highest among males aged 25 to 34 years.

The San Diego County Department of Health is providing financial assistance for HIV victims available through third-party financiers. Also available, are navigation and enrollment services for clients to access services that meet their needs.
