However, between 2016 and 2017, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea rates expanded more than twenty percent over the prior year, with more than 2.3 million new cases in the county in 2017. There were also more than 400 new syphilis cases in 2017, which was a 21.2 rise from the past year. 

Between 2008 and 2017, there was a forty-four percent increase in diagnosed HIV cases in Dallas County, AL. 

Dallas County, AL residents have several locations they can visit for STD testing. The Rural Health Medical Program Incorporated Dallas County Health Center is a fee-based low-cost clinic on Selma Ave. This location is a federally qualified health center that provides STD testing for area residents.

Area residents can receive STD testing on a sliding scale, as well as with health insurance. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted as well. Area residents can schedule appointments in advance.

The Selma AIDS Information and Referral on Central Park Pl. is another area location that provides STD testing. Selma Aids Information provides testing on location as well as at various locations in the area. No appointment is required for testing and free testing is provided to area residents.
