Individuals with Primary and Secondary Syphilis were 10 in 2016 at a rate of 5.1 and dropped to 6 new diagnoses in 2017 at a prevailing rate of 3.0. Those with Early Syphilis were 18 at a rate of 9.1 which went down to 14 new cases at a happening rate of 7.1.

Sangamon County Department of Public Health actively engages in the fight to stop further STD infections by providing STD and HIV testing and treatment, HPV and Hepatitis A and B vaccines, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).  The health department also has preventative measures that include STD counseling and education and partner notification.
