Yavapai county health officials reported 338 HIV cases at a rate of 143 in 2020. The infections were common among people aged 50 to 54. Also, most males were infected with HIV than females at a rate of 278 to 60.
At the end of 2016, Yavapai health officials found Chlamydia to be more dominant in females aged 20 to 24 compared to males. They identified 476 cases at a rate of 214.2, higher than the other STD infections.
In 2016, there were 72 Gonorrhea cases reported at a rate of 32.4 in 2016. The infections were more in males than in females at 40 and 32, respectively.
In the same year, few Syphilis cases were reported by health officials. Only six persons were diagnosed in 2016. However, in 2017 no cases were reported.
In an effort to slow down the spread of HIV/STD infections, the Yavapai County Health Officials continue to create awareness and sensitize the residents on the proper usage of injection drugs, condoms, and Pre and Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PreP). It also intends to include sexual health learning in the educational curricula.
