Figures for STD and HIV rates in Euless, TX are included in Tarrant County figures that show a gradual incline of overall numbers of cases over a five-year period.
Syphilis cases have risen significantly but the county saw the fifth-largest and third-largest drop in gonorrhea and chlamydia cases respectively.
The 2018 state surveillance report showed that in Tarrant County there were 8,387 chlamydia cases in 2017, down from 9,002 in 2016 but up from 2010 figures of 7,882.
There were 2,760 gonorrhea cases in 2017 whereas there were 3,079 cases in 2016 but in 2010 this number was 2,552. Syphilis cases were up to 676 from 543 in 2016 while in 2010 there were 387. HIV went down from 304 cases to 289 and in 2010, the number of cases was 270.
“Tarrant County came in as the second highest ranking U.S. county for the percentage increase of syphilis cases from 2016 to 2017. The expectation was for Tarrant County to be more average but the figures were pretty spread out, reflective of the fact that Tarrant is a diverse county.”
