With a population of 36609 according to the 2010 census, Brighton, located in Monroe County has seen an increase in the number of STD reported cases between the year 2013 and 2017, with the most prevalent disease being Syphilis.
According to STD comparison data ranging from 2003 to 2017, it was noted that the rates of Gonorrhea had increased by 10%, Chlamydia had risen by 9% while Syphilis raised an eyebrow having increased by 191% from 34 cases in 2013 to 99 cases in 2017.
According to a July 27, 2018 report, Monroe County had recorded the second highest rates of Chlamydia infection, second to New York with a percentage of 631.5 people per 100000.

To combat the alarming increase in the rates of STDs, The Monroe County Department has partnered with various public and private clinics in Brighton to provide STD testing to the residents of Brighton. Free STD testing may be offered in some of the public clinics though a walk-in option might not be available, and costs may be upfront.
