Public health officials at the Erie County health department noted a slight increment in HIV infections in Lancaster, NY, a village in Erie County. The cases rose from 12 at a rate of 4.3 in 2014 to 15 at a prevalence rate of 54 in 2015.
Chlamydia infections were frequent in the county, and the female population was the most affected. There were 1,245 cases reported in 2015, which dropped to 338 in 2016.
The total number of Gonorrhea infections in Erie County was 458 in 2015. The incidences slightly dropped to 298 in 2016.
Syphilis cases, consisting of primary, secondary, early and late latent, and congenital, were alarming, despite registering the lowest figure compared to Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
The health reports indicated a worrying trend of Syphilis in the county. The infections surged from 38 in 2015 to 57 in 2016.
