Forestville is a census-designated area within Hamilton County. The number of new HIV cases reported in males in the county was higher than that of diagnoses made in females between 2018 and 2020.

141 males tested HIV-positive in 2018, while there were 46 positive diagnoses in women. There were 114 diagnoses in men and 56 in women in the following year. In 2020, 102 males tested positive for HIV, while 31 new infections were reported in women.

Syphilis infections reported within the same period reduced from 323 cases in 2018, rated at 39.6 in every 100,000 persons, to 301 diagnoses rated at 36.8 in 2019. In 2020, there were 248 new cases rated at 30.3.

Hamilton County public health officials provide HIV/STI education and prevention services to high-risk populations through Caracole’s prevention program. It focuses its community outreach efforts on people who inject drugs, commercial sex workers, and MSM.
