Introduction

What are the STI test options in Reading,OH?

In 2019, 3,056 persons in Reading, OH, a city in Hamilton County, were found positive for HIV. The incidences were common among males, accounting for 73 percent of the diagnosed infections in 2019.

Also known as the silent infection, Chlamydia was frequent in Hamilton County. But the infections exhibited a downward trend dropping from 6,932 in 2016 to 6,770 in 2019.

However, Gonorrhea cases have been on the rise, and more and more individuals are being diagnosed with this infection. Gonorrhea incidences escalated from 2,870 in 2016 to 4,110 in 2020.

Syphilis exhibited an upward trend despite registering a low figure, as seen in the health reports. The cases inclined from 197 in 2016 to 248 at the end of 2020.

To achieve an innovative and sustainable response to HIV/STIs, Hamilton County Health Department uses mobile testing units to increase the availability of HIV and STD testing throughout the county and in non-clinical settings. Its staff strives to follow up with sexual partners of individuals diagnosed with HIV and STDs to ensure they receive timely treatment.

Sexually active persons in Reading, OH, may visit Oak Street Health Primary Care - Avondale Clinic, Evendale Healthcare Center, or Planned Parenthood - Mt. Auburn Center for HIV or STD testing.

Since STI screening may be expensive, some clinics in Reading, OH, work to make it accessible by offering free STD testing. However, the free tests may not be comprehensive, and medications may not be available for those with positive patients.

STD Testing at 4138 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45223, USA

Founded in 1987, Caracole is a non-profit organization that provides appropriate programs to improve the lives of those living with HIV. Its qualified personnel conduct confidential HIV and Hepatitis C diagnostics for interested clients as part of the prevention measures. The results of HIV tests may be available within 20 minutes, while those for Hepatitis C are accessible in 15 minutes.

Qualifications

Health providers on staff serve all patients regardless of their income level or insurance status. They also link eligible PLWHA to medication and financial assistance programs. You can access HIV and Hepatitis C testing at the clinic for free.

Treatment Options

After receiving the laboratory reports, the medical practitioners help patients interpret them. If the results are reactive, they will discuss with you the kinds of treatments available and how you can obtain them. But if you're HIV-negative, they will have one-on-one conversations with you on how to protect yourself from acquiring HIV and prescribe PrEP therapies if you're at risk. Case managers offer supportive services for PLWHA to remain in care and adhere to medication.

Summary

Caracole offers community-based interventions against HIV and Hepatitis C among the IDUs, such as the distribution of free safer injection supplies, fentanyl strips, and injectable Narcan. It also provides education on STDs, condom use, and healthy sex.
