Chlamydia was the most common STD in Baltimore County in 2018, with 4,463 reported cases and an incidence rate of 536.1 per 100,000 people. Gonorrhea cases were also widespread in 2018, with 1,309 reported cases and an incidence rate of 157.2 per 100,000 people. In addition, in 2013, Baltimore County had 3,611 reported cases of HIV.
In 2016, Baltimore County ranked third for chlamydia cases in Maryland and in 2018, the county had 223 cases of syphilis which included early, late, and congenital syphilis.
Anyone interested in STD testing can seek it at Planned Parenthood of Maryland Incorporated (Owings Mills Health Center) and Baltimore County Department of Health (Hannah More Health Center), both on Reisterstown Rd.
STD testing is also available at Chase Brexton Health Care (Randallstown Center) on Benbrook Rd. and Baltimore County Department of Health (Liberty Family Resource Center) on Resource Dr.
Other locations that offer STD testing include Baltimore County Department of Health (Woodlawn Health Center) on Woodlawn Dr. as well as Park West Health Systems (Men and Family Health – Park Heights) on Park Heights Ave.
There could be other locations in the area that offer free STD testing to people who are eligible. However, these locations may have long waitlists and inconvenient hours. In addition, these locations may offer limited testing or tests that aren’t comprehensive.
Plus, people who receive positive test results may not have access to a doctor’s consultation or the option to receive prescriptions for medication.
