In 2016, the highest number of Chlamydia cases in the state of florida were found in Miami-Dade County. However, although the county had the highest number of cases, it did not have the highest rate. A total of 2,702,890 cases were reported in Miami-Dade County and a rate of 2,702,890 cases. The highest rates were found in Leon and Alachua counties.

Between 2014 and 2016, the Gonorrhea rate in Miami-Dade County increased by 24%. In 2016, there were  3,064 Gonorrhea cases in the county and a rate of 113.4 per 100,000 population. The rate for newly diagnosed HIV cases in the county and throughout the state is on the decline. Despite this trend, the rate in Miami-Dade County remains comparatively high.

The School Board of Miami Dade County offers a Human Growth and Development curriculum in the district’s schools. According to the policy, human growth and development is an “instructional component of the District’s comprehensive health education curriculum.”
