Sierra, CA, is a small city area in Sierra County experiencing a jump in STD infections.
Chlamydia is on the rise with two new infections in 2016, and in 2018 the counted reported six cases.
Even gonorrhea is increasing in the sparsely populated location, with zero cases in 2017 and one in 2018.
County health officials in Sierra are working to reduce the rising STI rates. They're asking all sexually active men and women in the area to get tested regularly and follow up with treatment if necessary to help reduce the infection rates.
