The town of Westfield, NJ is part of Union County. A community with roughly 30,000 people, it was ranked by Bloomberg in March of 2018 as the 18th wealthiest city in New Jersey. Unfortunately, this has not saved them from the growing STD epidemic that is affecting the nation.
In fact, from 2014 to 2018, Westfield saw a 45% increase in the number of cases of STDs reported. Moreover, Union County realized an 11.1% growth in its STD prevalence rate during that period.
Conversely, the HIV prevalence rate for this area dropped by 10.8% during that five-year period while the state’s rate fell by a much less impressive 2.9%.
