What are the STI test options in Westfield,NJ?
The town of Westfield, NJ is part of Union County. A community with roughly 30,000 people, it was ranked by Bloomberg in March of 2018 as the 18th wealthiest city in New Jersey. Unfortunately, this has not saved them from the growing STD epidemic that is affecting the nation.
In fact, from 2014 to 2018, Westfield saw a 45% increase in the number of cases of STDs reported. Moreover, Union County realized an 11.1% growth in its STD prevalence rate during that period.
Conversely, the HIV prevalence rate for this area dropped by 10.8% during that five-year period while the state’s rate fell by a much less impressive 2.9%.
Our community is reporting a higher prevalence rate for STDs and HIV than the entire state of New Jersey.
For those in the Westfield community that want to get tested for STDs or HIV, there are a few options available. These public resources may provide STD and HIV screenings among other services.
Planned Parenthood has three clinic locations within ten miles of Westfield. The Elizabeth Health Clinic is roughly seven miles to the west in Elizabeth and approximately ten miles northeast is East Orange Health Center. Also about ten miles from Westfield is Perth Amboy Center to the southeast.
Springfield to the north of Westfield offers two possible locations for testing. The CVS MinuteClinic and Empire Medical Associates which are both located on Morris Avenue.
Please keep in mind that while some health centers offer free STD testing, that does not mean it is equal to paid testing. These services may be offered at inconvenient locations and time. Furthermore, they might not offer fast results or testing for all STDs.
