A drop of HIV cases was noted by the Union County Health reports in Roselle borough. The infections declined from 2,744 at a rate of 618 in 2014 to reach the low of 2,528 at a rate of 551 by 2018.
Chlamydia cases were dominant in the borough, and the infections were observed to be at an all-time high in the female population. The total number of people infected by Chlamydia in 2018 was 151, which was an increase from the 114 cases previously reported in 2012.
Gonorrhea cases were lower in Roselle Borough, and a slight increment of the infections was noted from 35 infections in 2012 to 38 by the end of 2018.
The Union County Department of Health successfully managed to eradicate Syphilis infections in the Roselle Borough since there were no reported Syphilis infections from 2012 to 2018.
Union County Department of Health is addressing HIV/STD infections in Roselle by increasing the number of mobile medical services to reach the high-risk groups like the MSMs and ensuring that health care providers adopt the 4th generation, 1-minute INSTI test.
Several health centers in Roselle provide STD/HIV testing, screening, and treatment and include MD Care Urgent Care Center and Planned Parenthood – Elizabeth Health Center. Other medical centers such as Union County Health Care Associates and Roselle Park Medical Group also provide sexual health services.
