What are the STI test options in Ontario,CA?
San Bernardino County health officials say STD rates are going up, but it’s not completely clear why. It could be that people have lost their fear of STDs in recent years due to advances in treatment options, and they have become lax about using condoms.
The highest rates are experienced by young people, though California’s sex education program is fairly progressive. Still, San Bernardino County saw a 96% increase in gonorrhea between 2011 and 2015, and a 137% syphilis increase.
In 2015, there were 2,886 people in San Bernardino County living with HIV or AIDS, with a prevalence rate of 169 per 100K people, well below California’s rate of 376. In 2017, 13,153 people in San Bernardino County were diagnosed with chlamydia, at a rate of 607.9, above California’s rate of 552.2. The gonorrhea and (primary and secondary) syphilis rates were 184.5 and 11.2.
