What are the STI test options in Addison, IL?
Surrounded by county forest preserves on nearly all sides, the village of Addison is part of DuPage County. Southeast of O’Hare airport on the western edge of the Chicago metro area, Addison retains a rural feel on the banks of the Salt Creek.
However, this does not insulate them from the growing health problem of rising STD rates. In fact, from 2014 to 2018, the prevalence rate for STDs in Addison and DuPage County rose by 47.4%. Chlamydia and Syphilis saw the largest growth during that period.
Conversely, during that five-year period, Addison’s HIV prevalence rate fell by 2.5%. This is in direct opposition to Illinois’ rate which rose by 10%.
DuPage County, including Addison, is in the middle of massive growth in STDs rates throughout our communities.
While the DuPage County Health Department has a location in Addison, that office does not list STD and HIV testing among its services. Rather, those services are offered at their Wheaton location on North County Farm Road.
In addition, Addison residents can visit the Addison Family Health Center on Lake Street for testing. This is an Access Community Health Network campus that may offer STD and HIV services to the public.
Planned Parenthood’s closest office is the Austin Health Center on Chicago Avenue in Chicago. They also list STD and HIV testing services among their offerings.
Some clinics may offer free STD testing. However, these services may not be comprehensive, might charge for a doctor consultation, or may not provide immediate results.
