Park Ridge, just 15 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, is a small city in Cook County. According to the 2017 census, the population in that year was 37,494. The last number of years have seen an increase in STD’s, particularly regarding chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
From just 2016 to 2017, the rate of chlamydia in Cook County increased from 461,1 per 100,000 to 495,9 per 100,000 – an increase of 7,5%. As for gonorrhoea, the rate increased from 112.7 per 100,000 to 129,7 per 100,000. Luckily, HIV is becoming less prevalent.
